FORT BEND ISD (Covering Fort Bend News) – Fort Bend ISD is joining other districts across the nation in recognizing afterschool professionals staff as part of Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week, April 22 – 26.
Fort Bend ISD’s Department of Extended Learning offers students and parents before and after school programs that help enrich the lives of students, such as the Extended Day Program, Club Excel and Success Zone. The department also provides programs during breaks, such as spring break and summer.
“We know that these programs are vital because supporting our students goes beyond the classroom,” said Kelly Keegan, director of Extended Learning. “The programs we offer not only offer a safe and positive learning environment for students, but they also give a sense of support and comfort to parents knowing their children are being well taken care of.”
Extended Learning offers the Extended Day Program at almost every elementary school, Club Excel at four middle schools, and Success Zone, another afterschool enrichment program, at 24 campuses.
The Department of Extended Learning has more than 400 staff members across the district, and serves approximately 7,000 students a year.
National Afterschool Professionals Week is held every year during the last week of April. Visit the National Afterschool Association’s website for more information.
