LIVE BROADCAST: Travis Meets Clements in Rain-Delayed Matchup Friday Afternoon

SUGAR LAND (Covering Fort Bend News) – Thursday morning’s heavy rains postponed the Travis Tigers’ district baseball game at Clements until 1 p.m. today, and you can listen to the live broadcast on VYPE Sports Radio at https://www.spreaker.com/show/fort-bend-sports-powered-by-vype. The broadcast begins at 12:45 p.m.

Travis is 10-1 in District 20-6A, 1/2 game behind Ridge Point at the top of the standings. Ridge Point beat Elkins last night, 7-1, and a Tigers win would lift them back into a first-place tie with Ridge Point.

Clements is fighting for its playoff life. If the Rangers win, they’ll be only one game behind 6-6 Elkins in the fight for the 4th and last available playoff spot. However, a Rangers loss means they must win their last two (vs. Ridge Point and Kempner) and Elkins must lose twice (vs. Dulles and Austin) for the Rangers to qualify for a one-game extension of the season April 27, when they’d have to play Elkins. If it comes to that, the winner would advance to the playoffs along with Travis, Ridge Point and Dulles – although Dulles has not clinched the third playoff spot yet.

Travis has been in the playoffs the last five seasons. Clements is trying to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2016, when they beat Friendswood 2-out-of-3 in the first round, but lost to Deer Park in Round 2.
