Glover Elementary Student’s Artwork Shines in Patriotic Art Contest

Glover Elementary student Jessica Ubezonu was named the Grand Prize winner for her artwork.

FORT BEND ISD (Covering Fort Bend News) – CITGO and the Children’s Museum of Houston named Glover Elementary fifth-grader Jessica Ubezonu the Grand Prize winner of this year’s sponsored student art contest. She was chosen from more than 100 students who participated, representing six elementary and middle schools from FBISD, Houston Independent School District and Stafford Municipal School District.

The art contest asked students to illustrate their idea of independence in honor of the Fourth of July holiday.

Three winners were chosen in each of the three age groups: Category 1 (prekindergarten through second grade); Category 2 (third through fifth grade); and Category 3 (sixth through eighth grade), along with one grand prize winner. Sage Broady, a fourth-grade student at Glover, earned third place in Category 2.

The finalists’ pieces were exhibited at the Children’s Museum in June and were scheduled to be featured in the CITGO Zone during CITGO Freedom Over Texas, before the event was cancelled due to flooding on the Fourth of July.
