MISSOURI CITY (Covering Fort Bend News) – River Pointe Church, alongside Missouri City Mayor Allen Owen, will break ground on Tuesday April 24 at 10 a.m. on a third permanent location for the church, located at 7042 Knights Court, between Highway 6, Sienna Plantation and Riverstone communities. The new, 42,000 square-foot church will be on an 18.5-acre lot and will host a grand opening in the spring of 2019.
The River Pointe Church Missouri City campus will feature distinct and specially designed adult, student and kids’ spaces that will facilitate faith and relationships, as well as a large sanctuary for gathering and worship. Services will be offered on Sundays, with an estimated capacity of 2,500 guests per weekend. The church also opens on week days and evenings for programs and special events. The community will be welcomed to enjoy the Missouri City campus grounds, including green spaces with outdoor gathering spots, every day of the week.
“Six years ago, RPC Missouri City set out to be a place where everyone feels welcome to process their doubts about God, to grow their faith and to build strong relationships,” says Patrick Kelley, founder and senior pastor of River Pointe Church. “In spite of doing ministry out of a high school for years, we have thrived in this community because the leaders have remained committed to making a difference in Missouri City. We look forward to our permanent building next year because it equips us to encourage and impact more people than ever.”
In 2012, by the request of the congregation, River Pointe Church established a mobile campus in Missouri City, worshipping every weekend at Elkins High School by transporting, loading and unloading two 40-foot trailers for each service.
“My family and I have truly enjoyed being part of the River Pointe Church congregation since the first day they opened their doors,” says Jamie Webster, member of River Pointe Church for 17 years and volunteer road crew captain of River Pointe Church in Missouri City for six years. “Watching the Missouri City location grow has been inspiring. We hope to explore faith, truth and friendship with Missouri City families at our new campus next year.”
Nathan Bryant, Pastor at River Pointe Church, will lead the Missouri City location. Bryant has served in ministry as a youth pastor and teaching pastor, has a passion for youth and a gift for connecting faith with adults, children and teens. Bryant earned his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 2004 after earning a degree in Public Relations from Texas Tech University in 1999. Originally from Katy, Texas, Bryant currently resides in Missouri City, with two children, Zeke and Maggie, and wife, Christina who teaches at Hightower High School.
River Pointe Church was formed in 1996 and founded in Fort Bend County by Patrick and Lisa Kelley, along with four other families. Before establishing its permanent home in Richmond, Texas in 2005, River Pointe Church became one of the largest portable churches in the country. The church now has three locations located in Richmond, Missouri City and inside the loop of Houston, with more than 7,000 members. For more information, visit https://www.riverpointe.org/.
