Richmond Evaluating RV Park Zoning District

RICHMOND (Covering Fort Bend News) – The Richmond City Commission recently heard a presentation on an amendment to the Unified Development Code to establish a Recreational Vehicle Park Zoning District. The city’s Planning and Zoning commission spent the last several months after Hurricane Harvey discussing and working with the city’s Planning Department on language for this text amendment, which would allow for an RV Park zoning district more suitable for residential uses.

Under the city’s current zoning regulations, the use of RVs in an RV Park is permitted with limited uses since it is designated as an Industrial Zoning District, which is not necessarily conducive to residential uses. Creating an RV Park Zoning District which is compatible with residential uses allows the city to address future growth opportunities as Richmond expands its’ city limits over the next 20 to 25 years.
